Whingate Primary School

Sports Premium Funding

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding (Sports Premium) to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sports provisions in schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - is allocated to school headteachers.

Here at Whingate Primary School, we have identified several areas which we aim to improve and enhance through the use of Sports Premium funding, in order to raise participation and achievement for all pupils in PE, sport and physical activity.

Sports Premium funding 2018/2019 and 2019/2020

The documents below discuss areas of improvement, how we spent our Sports Premium funding over the previous academic year (2018/19) and the impacts the funding had on the teaching and learning of PE across school. There is also a clear breakdown of our goals for this school year, with the desired impacts we aim  to have achieved by Summer 2020.

For 2018/2019 we were allocated £19,347 of Sports Premium funding whilst looking forwards, we have been allocated £19,446 for the upcoming academic year (2019/2020).

Extension of enhanced Sports Premium Funding 2020/2021

The government continued to allocate schools with the enhanced Sports Premium Funding last year. Please see below what we targeted the funds to be spent on and the desired impacts.

Sports Premium Funding 2021/2022

This year, we have received £19,446 from the government to support the teaching and learning of Physical Education at Whingate. Due to the impacts of Covid-19, many of our desired outcomes look at re-building and developing areas of the curriculum to support our children's physical and mental well-being. Please find below how we plan to utilise the funding this year and aim to have achieved the desired outcomes by the Summer Term in 2022.
